These materials cover both naturally occurring and man-made or artificial sources. The most common material is Radon, which results from naturally-occurring 232Th and 238U and serially passing as isotopes through a number of decays till a stable isotope evolves. The aim of this study was To investigate the potential effects and the oxidative damage caused by gamma radiation emitted from naturally occurring radioactive materials with low dose levels on the blood of male rats. Groups of adult male rats were classified and exposed to different doses result from NORM. The expected changes the changes in the concentration of total Protein, Albumin, and Globulin according to the exposure were measured, in addition to the change in some hematological parameters. The results indicated that all irradiated groups showed significant decreasing in the concentration of Total Protein, Total Albumin, Total Globulin, Albumin / Globulin Ratio, the Platelets numbers (PLTs) and platelets Volume (MPV) Globulin and Albumin / Globulin Ratio and a significant decreasing in the Platelets numbers and volumes (PLTs), (MPV)At the same time, the results showed increases in the PLTs/Lymphocytes ratio compared with the control group. The results established that the exposure to TENORM dose has some deleterious effects as observed in Albumin and Lymphocytes elevation. In conclusion, the naturally occurring radioactive materials have a significant effect on the blood system in male rats.National Information and Documentation Center (NIDOC), Academy of Scientific Research and TechnologyEgyptian Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics1110-852520120190101Preparation of Bioglass/Chitosan Composite incorporated with Dexamethasone by Sol-gel Method.9224572110.21608/ejbbe.2019.14005.1025ENAhmedAbd RabohBiophysics Branch, Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, EgyptMohamed SalahEl-khoolyBiophysics branch, Physics department, Science, Al-Azhar university, Cairo, Egypt0000-0001-8709-3171MohamedHassaanPhysics Dept., Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, EgyptJournal Article20190624In this study, we used the sol-gel method to prepare a composite of Bioglass/chitosan doped with dexamethasone (Dexa) as an anti-inflammatory drug. A solution of 1 wt.% chitosan was prepared with 1% acetic acid (v/v), and was added to a mixture of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), triethyl phosphate (TEP)and Ca (NO3)2.4H2O as arrow materials of (65%SiO2-25%CaO-10%P2O5). Finally, different percentages of the drugs (5,10,15 wt.%) were added as follows BG/CH5D, BG/CH10D and BG/CH15D respectively. Thermal behavior and surface structure were investigated with different techniques. Bioactivity of all samples was determined after investigate in the simulate body fluid (SBF). Both the pH and the concentration of some ions such as calcium and phosphorus were measured. The results showed a layer of hydroxy apatite (HA) was deposited on the surface of all samples, but this layer decreased as the dexamethasone concentration increased due to cross-linking between the drug with (BG/CH) composite which confirms its biological activity despite carrying the drug used Dexa.National Information and Documentation Center (NIDOC), Academy of Scientific Research and TechnologyEgyptian Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics1110-852520120190101Minimize Magnetic Field disorders by using Antioxidants23285508410.21608/ejbbe.2019.16606.1026ENSahar M.Awadphysics department, faculty of science, Al-Azhar universityJournal Article20190907The study aimed to investigate the treatment effect of marjoram leaves on brain tissue and some biochemical properties that exposed to magnetic field (MF). Magnetic fields may cause heating of the skin and the tissue, which could lead to several disorders as increase the production of reactive oxygen species. Animals have the effective enzymatic antioxidant defense system including catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and Glutathione (GSH) and Glutathione reductase (GSH-Px) enzymes. Lipid peroxidation in blood (erythrocytes) was measured as the amount of malon dialdehyde (MDA). This system allow for scavenging of reactive oxygen species ROS and leading to protection of cells from oxidative damage. Fruits, plants and vegetables contain high amounts of antioxidants, like polyphenols, vitamin C, vitamin E, β-carotene, and lycopene. Plants as Marjoram contains several acids as urosolic acid, carnostic acid, and carnosol which used as free radical scavengers. So it protect organs as liver , brain and kidney and enhance the antioxidant activities .National Information and Documentation Center (NIDOC), Academy of Scientific Research and TechnologyEgyptian Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics1110-852520120190101Ebola Virus L Polymerase RdRp Sequence and Phylogenetic Analysis29365447910.21608/ejbbe.2019.17450.1027ENMohamed IsmailEl GoharyPhysics Dpt., faculty of science (boys), Al azhar University55AmirEissaPhysics Department, Faculty of Science (Boys), Al-Azhar University, Nasr City, Cairo, EgyptAbdoElfikyBiophysics Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Giza, EgyptAmr AliDesoukyPhysics Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, Nasr city, Cairo, EgyptJournal Article20190928Ebola Virus (EBOV) infection affects humans beings in the last four decades with the deadliest outbreak at 2015 in West Africa, leaving more than 10,000 deaths. The virus harms the liver of the patient when direct contact with contaminated body fluids or blood is occurred. L polymerase is one of the viral proteins responsible for the viral RNA replication. Inhibition of the viral polymerase succeeded is in stopping the infection of other viruses such as Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) protein database has 2123 sequences for L polymerase. In present research, the sequence and phylogenetic analysis are utilized to understand the non-redundant sequence coming from different countries. Based on the sequence similarity, the solved structure of vesicular stomatitis virus (PDB ID: 5A22) is used in this work to suggest the active site of the EBOV RdRp domain. Two newly released sequences (APT69557.1 and ALX33626.1 for the Sudan and Zaire, respectively) are based on the phylogenetic analysis, show interestingly a divert, mutation and distance from its subgroups suggesting a new emerged isoform of EBOV RdRp. The active site motif, GDN, would be targeted by polymerase inhibitors succeeded in other viruses to get stop the infection
